Karen Lawson's Professional Experience
A recognized expert in the field of adult learning and active
training techniques, Karen Lawson has more than 20 years combined
experience as an internal and external training consultant. She has
published 7 books on the subject of workplace learning and development
and has written chapters for 18 different training anthologies in
addition to numerous articles in professional journals. She has also
created several assessment instruments and developed new, cutting-edge
learning tools and delivery methods, including a 12-session professional
development audio series for managers; web-based training programs; and
teletraining courses.
She has taught adult learning principles and practices at the graduate and undergraduate level for the University of Delaware, Saint Joseph’s University, Villanova University, Peirce College, and Bucks County Community College. At the corporate level, she has conducted train-the-trainer programs for Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, TEVA Pharmaceuticals, Telcordia Technologies, Blue Cross-Blue Shield of Delaware, Vanguard, Union State Bank, Astra-Zeneca, Wachovia, Elan Diagnostics, Efector, SEI, and Goldman Sachs, to name a few.
She has received numerous awards for her outstanding contribution to the training profession and has presented at many training conferences for the American Society for Training and Development, International Society for Performance and Instruction, and International Federation of Training and Development Organizations. She has been active in the American Society for Training and Development, holding leadership positions at both the local and national levels.
